Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute and Celebration

Featuring: Temika Moore, Duane Moody (Three Mo’ Tenors), Lorree Slye, (Richard Smallwood and Vision Singers), and Burl Binion (Richard Smallwood and Vision Singers)

Free Event to the Public: Tickets

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee invite you to the event “We are Martin," a tribute honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Heroes of The Civil Rights Movement.

We Are Martin will emphasize that all of us; everyday people have some of the same attributes ascribed to Dr. King within each of us. Determination, Devotion, Compassion and Courage; four qualities that Dr. King illustrated and lived in his role as the conscious of the nation and leader of the Civil Rights Movement. Through music, dance, and the spoken word the program will help you relive some of the most significant events of the civil rights movement as well as focus on members of our community who too share these elements of character and leadership. The outcome program planners seek is to have audience members see these elements of character and leadership in themselves and be inspired to focus with laser clarity on improving our community wherever they find themselves. In doing so the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lives on.

Mission Trip to Zambia

I need your support for my first mission Trip To Zambia June 1-11, 2018 with Meant 2 Live Foundation in support of providing resources and help for under-served communities. I'll be using my musical background to help orphans in Zambia. Please consider giving toward my fundraising goal. I am working toward raising $3,000 which will cover my travel and lodging expenses, and also include tools and resources for the community in which I'll be serving. Donate

So why Africa?

+1.6 million Orphans in Zambia, the highest per capita in the world
+68% of rural and 32% of urban orphans in Zambia are not enrolled in school
+In Lusaka, 75,000 children are living on the street
+Nearly two-thirds (63%) of Zambians receive less than $1 dollar a day
+Every 60 seconds, 14 children die of hunger related causes
+Each day, 6,500 people die in Africa from preventable diseases
+This is where the poorest of the poor live
+And they were meant to live also

For just $1.17 per day, you can save a life! In Zambia, your pocket change goes a long way. It can provide the basic needs for one a child such as food, clothing, medical assistance, books, school uniforms, and more importantly a quality education which can lift them from poverty. Just imagine if you gathered your friends and family members together, you could literally save an entire community. It can be done. Together we can make it happen. We truly hope that you can care for 1 child. Through your sponsorship, 2 lives will be changed: yours and that of the child. Now you can finally be the change that you always wanted to see in the world! I appreciate your support. Donate

Meant 2 Live Foundation is a project of United Charitable Programs, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. All funds raised by M2L are received by United Charitable Programs and become the sole property of UCP which, for internal operating purposes, allocates the funds to the OZ Project.
